Replica Mount
We use high quality replica blanks from a company based
in Minnesota as well as several other companies around the United States. What
is needed from you to order a replica? A length & girth measurement and a
good photo or two of the freshly caught fish will help greatly so I can accurately
match your fish to the reference photos.
A weight measurement is not absolutely necessary, but it will help to
provide a more accurate representation of the size of your fish. If no photo is available, I have plenty of photos
of live fish in various color phases for you to choose from.
Skin Mount (Warm and Cold Water)
All fish mounts have anatomically correct hand carved bodies. Eyes are hand painted. Bodies and fins are painted and scale tipped using reference pictures provided by the client. The highest attention to detail is used to create a life-like realistic trophy mount.
Cold water fish (Specific to Trout & Salmon)
It is next to impossible to remove the grease and
oils from some parts of the fish. If you
have ever seen older mounts of Trout and Salmon and notice the yellowish
coloring bleeding through the paint and gloss, this is caused from the natural
oils in the fish. To avoid this All
Trout and Salmon will have heads and fins molded and cast due to the oily
nature of these types of fish. The skin of the fish will be preserved and mounted as usual.
Some feel that by
making a mold and cast of these parts that it isn’t “their fish”. The castings are molded directly from your
fish. It is an exact copy of the head
and fins. By using this process it
ensures that you get the best quality work that will last a lifetime.
